New Beverly Hills Cinema complex wins (NECA) electrical contractor an Excellence Award

Totalec of Marrickville has won the 2008 Environment & Energy Efficiency Award for their work at the new Beverly Hills cinema complex at the 2008 National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) NSW Excellence Awards held on 26 September at Star City.

This winning installation was a design and construct project for a conversion from two cinemas to a complex of six. The brief was to provide energy efficient lighting, power, automation and sound for the new complex. Totalec examined the operation of another cinema to identify deficiencies and eliminate them. A high level of research was conducted followed by wide investigations into energy and attractive lighting. The result includes fibre optics and the extensive use of LED lighting.

"Optic Fibre & LED Lighting Solutions" was engaged to consult on various lighting applications for this project prior to the commencement of construction, this proved to be extremely beneficial in the overall outcome.

The scope for this project gave Optic Fibre and LED Lighting Solutions, "a license to thrill" whilst on a tight budget.

The added advantage of time, gave us the ability to begin with a blank canvas and create a showcase of our lighting products in a diverse and innovative way - this, being our speciality and ultimate goal.

The electrical contractor, Totalec, the designer Gino and the client had a very clear understanding of Lighting.  Collectively, we were able to execute the desired lighting result with ease.

The use of conscious energy consumption was required as well as the expectation to create a unique form of lighting to enhance the space / area and excite the end user.

It was mandatory that all of our lighting products be dimmable and integrates with the Dynalite Lighting Control System.  This included our high powered LED fittings, linear LED strip lighting, exterior LED wall washers, LED seat isle lighting, as well as our very latest RGB colour changing series.

The entire building was illuminated using LED lighting technology, with some fibre optic feature lighting.

To the best of our knowledge, to date, the Beverly Hills Cinema Complex is the first commercial building of its kind to be entirely illuminated with LED Lighting in Australia.

The client is extremely pleased with the completed project, the space is aesthetically pleasing and possesses that "WOW" factor.  The products used in this project are extremely energy efficient, therefore, low in electricity consumption as well as the advantage of next to no maintenance.

We believe this project contains all the hallmarks of the future in cinema complex lighting and should be used as an example, as an absolute milestone was achieved.

"Optic Fibre & LED Lighting Solutions" was proud to play an integral part in bringing this great building to life.

Share your dream, we will make it happen.
